Kayah Li Dictionary Offline

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

This policy explains how the Android app Kayah Li Dictionary Offline (“the app”) handles information. The app is an offline English and Kayah Li (Karenni) dictionary. It does not require an account.

Who we are

The app is published for Kayah Li language learners, speakers, and teachers. For privacy questions, contact the developer at the email address listed on the Google Play store listing.

Information the app does not collect

The app is built to look up words on your device. It does not:

Information stored on your device

After the first successful download, the word list is saved in a local database on your phone so search works without internet. That copy includes dictionary fields such as the English word, Kayah Li form, translation, part of speech, and example sentences.

The Menu also stores these choices only on your phone:

Words you type into the search box are used only to filter the local list. Saved words and the selected theme are not sent to the developer. Uninstalling the app, or clearing the app’s storage, removes the local database, saved words, and theme choice from your device.

Update data

When you open the app online, or when you tap Update data in the Menu, the app downloads a public dictionary file from Google Sheets:

Public dictionary CSV

That request is a normal internet download of a shared sheet that anyone with the link can view. Google may process the connection under Google’s Privacy Policy, including standard server logs such as IP address. The developer does not receive those logs and does not add your identity, saved words, or theme choice to the download.

Update data replaces the dictionary copy on your phone. It does not upload your saved words. If the download fails, the app keeps the word list already saved on your phone, including the words you saved.

How information is used

The downloaded word list is used only to show dictionary entries inside the app. Saved words are used only so you can open them again. The theme setting is used only to change how the app looks. None of this is used to build a profile, serve ads, or contact you.

Sharing

The developer does not sell, rent, or share personal information, because the app does not collect it. The only third-party transfer is the dictionary download described above, which goes to Google’s spreadsheet service.

Children

The app is a general-audience dictionary and may be used by students. It is not directed at children under 13 for data collection, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

The dictionary, saved words, and theme choice stay on your device until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app. Because no account or personal record is kept by the developer, there is no server profile to delete. To remove local data, use your phone’s app settings to clear storage, or uninstall the app.

Security

The word list, saved words, and theme choice are stored in the app’s private local storage. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. The dictionary file itself is a public sheet, not a private user record.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after the update means you accept the revised policy.
